About Alaska Minerals

Alaska Minerals Remote Camp Services…

Working in the industry since 1973, owner/operator Mike Smith has over 40 years in the business.  Since starting Alaska Minerals in 1985, Mike has grown Alaska Minerals from a small one-man operation to the premiere leader within the soft-sided camp industry.

Alaska Minerals’ camps come fully loaded with everything from office units with broadband internet and satellite TV to premiere kitchens with gourmet chefs.  While other companies serve bulk cafeteria style food, Alaska Minerals Chefs serve gourmet and home style meals from scratch.  Just because you’re crew is living hundreds of miles from civilization doesn’t mean they have to be roughing it!  Whether your camp needs are for the mild Alaskan summer months or the long grueling winters, Alaska Minerals will meet your needs with competitive prices that will make the competition… not seem like competition.

Who We Are…

Mike Smith has been in the mining industry since 1973, working for major mineral exploration companies such as Anaconda, Boyles Brothers and Layne-Christiansen.  He started in Alaska working as a drilling coordinator.  Soon after, Mike was tasked with the responsibility of designing, building and running a 60-man camp.  While putting in camps for mineral exploration projects, Mike saw a real need for the industry that wasn’t being met for temporary soft sided camps within the state of Alaska.  In 1985, Mike started Alaska Minerals and with his expertise, has developed it into the premiere remote camp service business it is today.
